How a live sale actually works
If you have never bought from a live shopping show before, it is friendlier than it sounds. Here is the whole thing, start to finish.
Follow the shop

Turn up at the start
Shows usually run Thursday evenings, Eastern time. Getting there at the start is worth it — the first items go up while the room is smallest.
Watch the item come up
Every piece is held up to the camera, turned over, and described out loud: maker, era, condition, and any flaw. Chips, flea bites, pattern wear and repairs are always named. Ask for a closer look and you will get one.
Bid, or do not
Auctions start low and run for a few seconds. There are buy-it-now items too. Nobody minds if you watch the whole show and buy nothing — a lot of the room is there for the company.
Everything ships together
Wins from one show are combined into a single shipment. Glass is double-boxed. Tracking comes through Whatnot as soon as the label is made.
What tends to come up
Most shows lean glassware — Pyrex, Fire-King, milk glass, the odd piece of carnival — with a table of collectibles alongside: tins, toys, teacups, paper. Seasonal shows are their own thing. Vintage Christmas starts appearing in October and the Shiny Brite boxes go fast.

How condition gets described
Every flaw is named on camera before bidding opens: rim fleas, pattern wear, utensil marks, silvering loss, repairs. You will hear “there is a chip here, I am showing you now” a lot. That is deliberate — a piece sold honestly at the right price is worth more than a piece sold quietly at the wrong one.

After the show
